TODAY there are over a thousand integral and affiliated colleges in Nepal itself! Looking back, higher education in Nepal started in 1916 A.D. with the establishment of Tri-Chandra College affiliated to Patna University. The first
university Tribhuvan University was set up over four decades later. Since then things have changed greatly.
Nepalese universities and colleges presently offer qualitative education in various disciplines often with scholarships. There seem to be distinct benefits of studying in Nepal itself. One, this education is affordable and accessible. Two, degrees conferred here have global recognition. Three, there are numerous seats available.
Four, technological advances have made world-class education easily available. Five, such education is most relevant to Nepalese society and eventual nation building. Six, enrollment in Nepalese institutions boosts the national economy. Finally, students remain close to their families and in touch with their own culture. This makes studying here an attractive proposition to very many students.
