Financial Aid (US)

You will also need to manage for books and personal expenses that can be around USD 4,000 - USD 5,000 per year. Do consult your parents to find out how much they can afford to pay. While most schools in the US provide financial aid to American students in the form of scholarships, fellowships and student loans, getting financial aid in the US schools for international students can prove to be very competitive.

Most Nepalese students look for full scholarships, which cover the entire cost of education except for airfare. These awards, however, are difficult to obtain. To compete successfully for a full scholarship, you must be one of the top students in Nepal with a consistently good academic record, score well on standardized tests like SAT, and demonstrate outstanding performance in other areas, such as leadership and other extracurricular activities.
US schools may also provide partial financial aid and student loans to international students. Check with the schools that you are interested in applying regarding the potential financial aid packages available to Nepalese students.
